Warlock of the Magus World Chapter 1008

Beginning of Battle

'The inner Weave is a convenient way for a god to channel faith towards them. It didn't reject me using it, so it seems to be open… The basic requirement is that one is a demigod?' Leylin looked lost in thought.

'The innermost core of the Weave, as well as Karsus' Avatar, the rank 12 spell…' The thought of how difficult it was to release the conscients of the numerous Magi, even Leylin frowned. He had to get rid of the entire Weave to do so, which included the outer Weave that numerous wizards counted on and the inner Weave that the gods used as a channel for faith.

Would the gods willingly abandon such a convenient channel as the Weave? Regardless of their intellectual abilities, and their ability to count the number of worshippers in their divine realms in an instant, the Weave was more than just an upgrade to their calculative abilities. It greatly reduced the cost of bestowing divine spells, and increased the convenience. Having become used to such a great advantage, could they still accept and tolerate more traditional methods?

'Once I shatter the Weave, I'll be going up against the entire World of Gods…' Leylin looked grim, 'It won't just be true gods. All demigods, and even nature spirits or divine beings who can use the Weave will probably become my enemies as well…'

Only Leylin who was from a foreign world would have the guts to take on an entire world. However, even he had to consider his options carefully. While Distorted Shadow still had incomplete conscients in the outer world, he had not done much in tens of thousands of years. That was only to be expected.

'I'm afraid I'll have to push my agreement with Distorted Shadow back…' Leylin stroked his chin, having made up his mind.

Now that he was a demigod, the injuries to his main body should have completely healed. Having taken over Debanks Island, the faith in him had greatly increased. It could even support his ascent to godhood. Time was definitely on his side.

If this dragged on, and both his bodies reached a higher realm, the terrIf this was dragged on for longer, to the point that both his bodies had reached higher realms, the terror he could bring from fusing the bodies was enough for Leylin to take the plunge and challenge the world!

"When it comes to turning into a true god from a demigod, expansion of faith is one thing. Next is to guide the followers and form a godly role that is unique to me."

Leylin had now become aware of the relationship between faith, godflames, divine force and godly roles.

Divine force originated from faith and needed to be transformed by godflames. This was the root of all gods! However, even when it came to the power of faith, there were slight differences within them.

For instance, soul energy from great anger was completely different from soul energy dissipated from extreme fear.

For demigods, the effort required in transforming a varied power of faith to divine force was immense.

The purpose of a godly role was to guide and make plans for the soul energy from the followers in advance.

If godflames were engines that purified varied faith and and provided the flames with a more stable source of power, then godly roles would be the key to separating diesel from gasoline.

While in general, the soul energy that could be absorbed after obtaining a godly class seemed to lessen, the purity increased. This meant that the burden for the godly spirits also decreased, to the point that the amount of divine force after being transformed would actually increase, rather than decrease.

After all, was burning one kind of fuel easier for an engine or both diesel and gasoline together? Most probably would know the answer to that.

"Godly role… It's unfortunately not as simple as differentiating soul energy. It is about going deeper into the domain and derive an even more terrifying might…"

Leylin could now sense that with the faith from pious followers as well as tremendous soul energy, the godflames in his body now burned more vigorously, and there were even a few runes of laws starting to appear.

The godly role of godly spirits was, when it came down to it, an embodiment of laws. Hence, the appearance of these runes meant that a godly role would soon condense!

Just observing the incomplete golden characters of laws alone allowed Leylin to get a better understanding of the World of Gods.

"From the essene of the runes, it seems to be inclining towards massacre and conquer, as well as sickness and healing. Will my first deity role appear from here?"

Leylin's eyes flashed with rays of the A.I. Chip, "A.I. Chip, can you record this script?"

While the characters of laws within the godflames were incomplete, they were very unique. They weren't even 3D but perhaps almost 4D, and if this were the A.I. Chip of the past, it would have been powerless. However, after the upgrade, it was hard to say what the A.I. Chip was capable of, and Leylin wanted to test the limits of what it could do.

[Beep! Mission established. Beginning scan…]

The A.I. Chip loyally intoned, large amounts of blue data streaming past Leylin.

[Beep! Target scanned. Discovered high energy force field. Attempts to break through! Broken through! Beginning to analyse characters of laws. Recording… Beep! Target has properties of 4D image. Discovered interference from time and space radiation. Partial loss of data…] [Beep! Characters have been scanned. 67.66% recorded. Partial loss of data.]

A large passage appeared in front of Leylin, which caused him to grin in glee.

He looked through the database of the A.I. Chip. There was now a subdirectory in the column of laws called 'godly role runes', within which were the characters that had just been scanned in.

While it seemed to be less complete than the godflames, there was a distinct charm to this being the original version.

In the past, the A.I. Chip would definitely have been unable to scan anything. However, it was able to forcefully make a partial copy, which gave Leylin a pleasant surprise.

"If all these characters were to be completely analysed, the chances of even natives igniting their godflames and obtaining godly roles should increase by 50%, right…"

Leylin nodded in satisfaction, and then focused on the analysis of the characters.

"Massacre and conquering, as well as sickness and healing?"

The A.I. Chip gave the results of the preliminary scan, which was the same as what Leylin had expected.

It had to be said that on the Debanks Island, that was the image he gave to the ordinary natives.

The selection of a godly role could easily give rise to battles between gods. Based on what the A.I. Chip had surmised, Leylin now sank into deep thought.

"Based on the analysis of the characters of laws, most faith comes from massacre and sickness, and I am most likely to become a god with that. There's lesser for conquer, since the natives don't really have any concept of races and culture, and there are multiple battles between tribes. Faith in healing is the least, huh."

Pure faith was not a lie, and Leylin could now only laugh wryly.

By the looks of it, even if his church were to bestow holy water ad help the natives get rid of sickness, they now treated him as the personification of massacre, sickness and death!

"Faith from reverence is forever more stable than that in love and respect…"

The grin on Leylin's face widened, "Looks like I'm not fated to be in the good faction…"

Walking the path of massacre was something Leylin had already decided. With the power that he had, he definitely would not side with the good anyway.

"From the power of faith alone, massacre and sickness seem more stable…"

Leylin now had made his choice. Compared to sickness, he valued the godly role of massacre more.

Besides, there were few godly roles that grasped massacre. It was just Malar, Cyric and a few others.

While Cyric was a greater god, he was half-crazy and paid no mind to the administration of his church in the mortal world. This had caused the priests of the church of murder great distress.

Things would get troublesome if he went for sickness or the plague. Leylin would rather go up against lunatics and beasts, but would never provoke the plague mistress who was clear-headed. He had no desire for any plagues to come upon his territories every once in a while.

"And… Cyric?"

Leylin lowered his face, ridiculing him with soundless laughter…
……

From the viewpoint of the gods, everything on the Debanks Island was right before their eyes.

"Saintess, our vanguard has already taken over the two citadels, Ado City and Dole City. As long as we get the Dul City as well, the capital of the empire shall be right before our eyes!"

On the massive land, troops from Hope Stronghold were proceeding forth orderly.

Saintess Barbara, who Leylin had conferred a title to, had now completed her routine prayers and was now listening to the reports from the native army official.

Golden divine light flashed at her fair forehead, allowing her to be bathed in a holy luster.

Aya and her little brother stood aside respectfully, taking on the roles of servants and maids. Out of gratitude for their saviour, as well as the need for survival, the two of them worked for her. It seemed that the saintess rather admired the great relationship between the pair and brought them with her.

"The capital?" Aya's eyes lit up as if she had recalled something, but that quickly dimmed.

"Aya! You came from nearby the capital, right?" Barbara seemed to think of something and asked.

"Mm! Aya was once a clansman of the Ado City's Juna Tribe. Due to the plague, I escaped with other people of my tribe…"

Aya spoke slowly, and her brother bowed his head, as if he had recalled something terrible.

Actually, most of the natives that had fled with them had died on the way. Sickness and famine were the two greatest natural enemies for commoners.

Out of ten, those who could get through mountains and waters to reach Hope Stronghold numbered less than one!
